Whidbey Community Foundation Open Call for Board Candidates

Whidbey Community Foundation is growing and embracing the next stage of impact through relationships, trust, and community. It’s more vital than ever to have broad community participation and diverse voices at the table to help guide our grantmaking, steward the community funds entrusted to us, and lead our strategic work.

We’re pleased to announce that we’re openly seeking community members to serve on our Board of Directors. This opportunity is a great way to inspire local philanthropy and support the Whidbey community you love. Please consider whether this may be a good fit for you, nominate yourself, and help us spread the word to your networks!

ABOUT WHIDBEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Whidbey Community Foundation envisions a more vibrant, healthy, and unified Whidbey Island community. Our mission is to improve the quality of life on Whidbey Island by providing support for the nonprofit sector, assisting donors to build and preserve enduring assets for charitable purposes, and meeting community needs through financial awards.  Since our founding in 2016, we have awarded more than $3M in grants. Today we steward nearly $6M in assets across 30+ separate funds. To learn more about us, explore www.whidbeyfoundation.org (including our historyvalues, and commitment to anti-racism and DEI).

OPEN CALL FOR BOARD NOMINATIONS

Applications are now open for Whidbey Community Foundation’s Board of Directors. We expect to add approximately 1-2 new board members within the next year. We aspire to be an organization that is of, by, and for our community. We are striving to build a Board of Directors that represents the diversity of our region—this includes, but is not limited to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, and other lived experiences. We are seeking board members with strong ties to Whidbey Island and a knowledge of donor stewardship. Anyone 18 years old+ who lives or works on Whidbey Island is eligible to serve on the Board.

Collectively, the Board of Directors has the overall responsibility for governing the Community Foundation. Our Board of Directors holds our organization accountable to the community we serve and is responsible for setting strategic and policy level guidance for the organization.

Visit our website to apply, by filling out our Board Candidate Application Form, and to view the Board Member Role Description. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. We plan to hold the first round of interviews in the beginning of May 2025.

If you have any questions about joining our Board, please contact WCF Executive Director, Jessie Gunn, at jessieg@whidbeyfoundation.org or a current Board member you may know.
