Description
About Climate Change: Join Steve Rothboeck of the Climate Reality Project, Gary Piazzon of 350.org and Citizens Climate Lobby for an hour-long illustrated overview about climate change, the problems and solutions, on Wednesday, April 24 at 5 p.m. at Whidbey Coffee Company?s community room 31275 SR20 in Oak Harbor. Piazzon comes with a lot of practical experience and advice to those who want to take a more active role on this issue. The 350.org movement is advocating ways to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere ? a cause of global warming. The movement was inspired by environmental writer Bill McKibben, ?? to preserve our planet, scientists tell us we must reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere from its current level of 392 parts per million (ppm) to below 350 ppm. But 350 is more than a number?it's a symbol of where we need to head as a planet.? McKibben adds, ?When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging!? Enjoy a coffee after work. Science While Sipping is a series of short talks about conservation of our environment and part of the month-long, Island-wide celebration of Earth Day 2013.
