Joseph Bologne "Chevalier de Saint-Georges", the son of an enslaved woman of Senegalese origin and a French plantation owner, was a contemporary of Mozart and Haydn, champion fencer and music instructor of Marie Antoinette.
Adolphus Hailstork, whose compositions are described as lyrical, tonal, narrative, dramatic, and propulsive, is one of America's most prolific composers and leading musical voices of today.
