Description
The National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event in early August. NNO is a unique crime/prevention event involving citizens, law enforcement, and emergency personnel from the City of Oak Harbor, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations, the Island County Sheriff's Department, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NASWI), and local officials from Island County.
Purpose
NNO is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
- Send a message to criminals, letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back!
Previous events have been an enormous success, with people participating from all over Island County. We cordially invite you and the community to participate in this year's event.
Many free family activities are held during the event, including demonstrations, exhibits, and hands-on activities for all ages!
