Family Furoshiki Workshop: Discover the Art of Japanese Fabric Wrapping
Join Whidbey Island Language, Art & Stem Center for a fun and interactive cultural experience designed for families, children, and community members of all ages! In partnership with the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle, this free hands-on workshop introduces participants to furoshiki — the traditional Japanese art of fabric wrapping.
Families will learn creative and practical wrapping techniques used in Japan for gifts, groceries, and everyday items while exploring the cultural traditions and values behind this timeless practice. Participants will create beautiful reusable wraps and discover how furoshiki encourages creativity, sustainability, and thoughtful design.
Led by experienced native Japanese instructors from the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle, this welcoming workshop is perfect for anyone interested in Japanese culture, hands-on learning, and family-friendly activities.
