Soroptimist International of Oak Harbor will host LUNAFEST® 2020 on Thursday, March 19, at the Elk's Club in Oak Harbor. This national traveling film festival, established in 2000 by LUNA (part of the Clif Bar & Company family) spotlights the work of diverse, talented women filmmakers with intelligent, funny and thought-provoking short films by and about women. Rated Equal™ For almost 20 years, the LUNAFEST® traveling film festival has created opportunities for more than 150 women filmmakers to share their untold stories. In addition, each season their unique platform travels to close to 200 cities, helping to raise funds for local women’s causes. Since 1981 Soroptimist International of Oak Harbor has supported women and girls in the Oak Harbor area. The club is affiliated with Soroptimist International of the Americas, a global service organization that works to improve the lives of women and girls throughout the world. The proceeds from this event help fund our programs that improve the lives of women and girls, including awards and scholarships, mentorship, and grants assisting women and girls in the Oak Harbor community and around the world. Once again this year the evening will begin with heavy appetizers at 5:30, and the films will begin at 6:30. A variety of raffle baskets will also be on hand, including ones themed around Movie Night, Italian Delights, and Spring Fling! NOTE: Films featured in LUNAFEST are not rated but we suggest age 14+ for this season's lineup. The 2020 Season features seven (7) short films with a total program running time of 96 minutes.
